Gardening Services
Truly organic land care uses only methods and materials listed in the NOFA Organic Land Care Standards. Pumpkin Brook Organic Gardening does not use chemicals, synthetics or sewage sludge (known as "biosolids"). These materials are prohibited in the Standards because they harm human health and the environment around us, including children, pets, birds and wildlife, and end up polluting the environment.
The principles of Organic Land Care are resonating with more and more homeowners throughout Massachusetts who agree with this gardening philosophy. Our methodology takes into account the local ecosystem and benefits the whole web of life.
Pumpkin Brook Organic Gardening provides organic land care services in northwest suburban Boston, including Lincoln, Concord, Carlisle, Groton, Acton and Lexington.
Our primary service is skilled maintenance of existing gardens, exclusive of lawns: pruning, transplanting, dividing, staking, deadheading, renovating borders, planting, and clearing neglected areas. Weekly, biweekly, or seasonal visits are available. Consultations are also offered.
We also design and install renovations and new plantings in small areas.
When gardens are maintained organically the plants are stronger. They require less care in the long run, less water, less fertilizer, and create an environment that is healthier for the homeowner.

Pumpkin Brook Crew
We employ a crew of gardeners who work almost exclusively with hand tools. We conform to the Northeast Organic Farming Association's Standards for Organic Land Care, as revised for 2003, and are proud to state that four of our staff are Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals.
